I'm Michelle
Because you shouldn’t have to choose just one moment to remember, this is your way to hold on to the whole story.
Because some moments are meant to be seen as they unfold, movement, emotion, and the beauty of this season, just as it was.
One of the most common questions I get asked as a Wilmington maternity photographer is “When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?”
Pregnancy is such a beautiful, sacred, and fleeting season of life, and capturing it through maternity photos is a wonderful way to preserve the memories of your growing baby bump and all the anticipation that comes with it.
You might have spent time waiting, hoping, or questioning if you’d ever arrive here. Whatever your path has looked like, the process of becoming has been slow and deeply personal—something only you and God fully know. A maternity session isn’t about flawless poses. It’s about honoring the sacred shift as new life quietly grows within.
While every pregnancy is unique, I typically recommend scheduling your maternity session between 30 and 34 weeks. During this window, your bump is beautifully round and prominent which is perfect for photos, but you’re also likely to still feel relatively comfortable and energized. You’re far enough along to really show off that gorgeous belly, but not so far along that swelling or discomfort might make your session feel more like a chore than a celebration.
Waiting too long can mean missing out entirely if your baby decides to arrive ahead of schedule. Babies have a way of keeping us on our toes, and ultimately decide when they will make their grand entrance into the world. I’ve seen mamas miss the chance to document this special season because they waited just a little too long.
As a mom myself, I know how precious and sacred this season is. I also know how valuable your time and energy are. That’s why I handle all the details — from professional hair and make-up to wardrobe, to helping with those last steps of how you will enjoy your portraits in your home. My goal is to make the process simple and stress-free, so you can focus on soaking in this special moment in your motherhood journey.
If you’re wondering when to book, don’t wait until the third trimester to reach out — I recommend booking early. I am often one of the first to hear of many expecting mamas exciting news even before friends and family! This gives you plenty of time to ensure availability and plan your session, without any last-minute stress.
Because one session can’t contain all the love and grace of their very first year. The sleepy newborn days. That sweet gummy smile at six months. The way their eyes brighten the moment you enter the room. These fleeting moments slip by softly. Often before we even realize they’re gone. That’s why our First Year Collective Membership was created. Not to rush milestones, but to gently follow the unique story God is unfolding in your family. A year filled with quiet wonders, meaningful growth, and everyday sacred love captured in a way that helps you hold tight to what truly matters.
Ready to hold onto this sacred season and celebrate your beautiful growing bump? I’d be honored to capture it for you! Contact me for more details!
These photographs become treasures passed through generations. Your children will one day hold these images close, seeing themselves through your loving eyes and discovering the quiet grace that surrounded their earliest days.

If this season feels tender, beautiful, or just a little fleeting, it may be His way of inviting you to pause and hold it close. I’d be honored to walk with you.
